I agree that somehow my kids can stand multi trips via bike. But not via car. I think it's the strapping in and being closed off. And perhaps my own parking etc stress adds to it. On bike if someone needs me to stop or whatnot- I can.

The parade sounds fun. For me my adventures always are in the mode of interacting with people we never would have interacted with before.

We had a similar experience today. On our way home from picking my son up from preschool, my husband and I (both on our Xtracycles) noticed a huge house in the middle of a side street. If we were in our car we would have kept going, but the flexibility of being on bike allowed us to stop and check out what was happening. It turns out the house was being moved about 10 blocks to a new location. We stayed and watched as it slowly inched along. My son loved all the action of the tree trimming and utility trucks clearing the way by trimming branches and lifting utility lines. It was a fun and memorable morning, thanks to the flexibility of biking.

I have found parades and bikes to be a wonderful combination. We can zip around on our bikes, down streets blocked to cars, & even stand in the bucket of the Bakfiets to get a better view, etc. The older I get, the less I am into crowds & being able to make a fast getaway by bike has made me much more open to parades & other community gatherings.

I love that you just came upon this parade & could experience it BECAUSE of the bikes. I am with you that bikes have added to our adventures, not limited them. I bet you got some of the parents (who saw you pull up on your rigs) thinking....

Hi Angie,

Sounds like a lovely day. Your post highlights why Xtracycle's slogan "everyday adventure" is so brilliant. The mundane things such as shopping and running errands turn into "everyday adventures" when you're on a bike. And Xtracycles make it all so easy.

Our good friend just bought one of the sale Radishes - what a great deal! She emailed Tim this morning to proclaim her love. How did she live without it before?

I'm glad you're enjoying your adventures!
